Most of the parish sits below sea level behind the lake levee and stays dry only because the drainage pumps keep it that way, so the ground under a 1960s slab ranch in Bonnabel or Terrytown never really dries. On the visit we look at what got wet, how long ago, and how far it traveled — a supply line under the kitchen sink wets the wall behind the cabinet; a backed-up condensate drain runs into the next room's carpet pad. Then you get a scope in writing before anything is scheduled.
The job is containment, removal of what can't be saved, cleaning and drying of what can, and the written report Louisiana requires. The moisture that fed the growth has to be stopped for the removal to hold. We don't fix roofs or plumbing ourselves; we work with contractors who handle that, and we'll cover it on the call.
